Even bad reviews can be turned to the benefit of the company’s reputation if you work with them correctly.

Practical tips on how to remove negative product reviews

Try to find out who posted the review. If this is a well-known customer, then it might be possible to work it out together. Who knows, the customer is willing to remove the review or to post a postscript. (NB make sure you do not put pressure on the customer (directly). The threat is completely out of the question.) A correct e-mail can already achieve a lot.

If the review has been posted anonymously, in some cases it is still possible to find out the user by checking his username or by trying to deduce from the review who posted it. The installer has often been in contact with your company. Reviews are not often randomly placed.
Sometimes it is possible to make contact with the person who posted the review via the platform on which it was placed. Try that, but note that the reaction must always be neat and correct. This naturally applies all the more if your response to the platform can also be read by third parties.
Contact the platform on which the reviews are placed. If the review is obviously unlawful (for example, the review consists of gross insults), then the platform may be willing to remove the review. In some cases, it is also required by law to do so. Platforms often offer the possibility of reporting an unlawful review.
Ask (good) customers to post a review on the same platform. Because the negative review is overshadowed by a positive review, the impact of the negative review on the overall score of your company is reduced. Please note that placing fake reviews is in principle not allowed, as this can be misleading advertising.
In addition, the Social Media Advertising Code (RSM) prohibits advertisers – which your company may include – from using fake online profiles to post messages.
If you are nevertheless unable to remove or adjust an unlawful review, then a lawyer letter may provide a solution.
